WE ARE: DESOTO TIGER

Desoto Tiger was born as a studio passion project, but it quickly evolved into something much greater. More than just another hard rock band, Desoto Tiger became a voice for the lost, the broken, and those searching for hope in a world consumed by division, negativity, and noise.

Every riff, every lyric, and every performance has been built on one mission: to inspire strength, resilience, faith, and purpose through the power of rock music.

Like many great stories, it all began with a single guitar riff.

That riff became the foundation of the Desoto Tiger sound and eventually gave birth to the band's first single, "Tyson."Inspired by life's relentless battles, the song delivers a simple but powerful message: when life knocks you down, you don't simply get back up—you fight back with the fury of Iron Mike himself. "Tyson" established the aggressive musical identity and uncompromising spirit that would define everything that followed.

What started as a studio experiment soon transformed into a full-fledged band featuring Courtney Gerhardt, Theo DiSanto, Charles Cramblitt, and founder Ty Kirkland. The chemistry between the members led to the band's debut full-length record and ultimately earned Desoto Tiger a recording contract with Iron Gate Records in Nashville, Tennessee.

Following a year of live performances, Ty returned to the studio to begin work on the band's sophomore release, Here Comes the Fallout. The album showcased heavier songwriting, sharper production, and a darker lyrical edge with tracks including "Anthem of Our Dying Day," "Bomb Bay," "Devil," and "Incite the Violence."

As the new record gained momentum, Desoto Tiger rapidly became a recognizable name throughout the independent hard rock and metal scene. Their live performances evolved into a full-scale production that combined crushing guitar tones, soaring solos, thunderous percussion, and gritty vocals into an unforgettable concert experience. More than entertainment, every performance stood for the ideals of "People Over Politics" and choosing virtue over the negativity that too often defines the modern world.

Just as the band's momentum continued to build, unfortunate and tragic news occurred. Following the release of the second album, Desoto Tiger said goodbye to founding guitarist and friend Theo DiSanto. Though his absence left a lasting mark, the band pressed forward as a trio while searching for the next chapter. with the absence of Theo, the band turned to long time friend and colleague mark bunuy, to serve as a temporary member.

The next chapter in Desoto tigers journey arrived with the addition of Derek2Times. Bringing a background rooted in punk rock, Derek injected fresh energy into the band's established heavy metal foundation. His influence blended West Coast grit with Desoto Tiger's aggressive sound, creating a natural evolution that expanded the band's musical identity while staying true to its roots.

With the lineup restored, Ty had already written enough material for two additional albums. The songs simply needed the unique personalities of each band member to bring them fully to life. However, during the early recording sessions for the band's third album, another difficult farewell came as founding member Courtney Gerhardt departed the band.

However every challenge strengthened the resolve of Desoto Tiger.

As the band's sound evolved, so did Ty's songwriting. The lyrics became increasingly introspective, exploring personal spiritual struggles, faith, perseverance, and redemption. The music grew heavier while the message grew more hopeful, creating a balance between aggression and inspiration that became a defining characteristic of the band's identity.

The next evolution arrived with bassist Alex Lukasek, whose massive low-end tone perfectly complemented Desoto Tiger's crushing guitar sound. Together, the revitalized lineup continued performing through 2025, delivering fan favorites including "Revolution," "Houston We Have a Problem," and "Screams."

Later that year, the band embraced a new creative challenge by reimagining cover songs. Their interpretations of "El Phantasmo and the Chicken-Run Blast-O-Rama" and "Papa Don't Preach" quickly became crowd favorites, proving that Desoto Tiger could honor familiar music while making it unmistakably their own.

As original music venues became increasingly scarce and many stages closed their doors, the band ultimately transitioned back to its original roots as a studio project. Today, founder Ty Kirkland continues carrying the Desoto Tiger banner forward as the band's sole songwriter, producer, recording engineer, and creative force.

The newest chapter of Desoto Tiger continues with music that reflects an even deeper spiritual journey. Recent releases including "King," "AO," "A-Political," and "Prayer" explore themes of faith, personal growth, conviction, and hope without sacrificing the heavy sound that has always defined the project.

Through every lineup change, every stage, every recording session, and every obstacle, Desoto Tiger has remained committed to its original purpose: being a voice for people searching for light in dark places. It's a brotherhood of musicians united by powerful riffs, honest lyrics, unwavering conviction, and the belief that rock music can still inspire people to stand for something greater than themselves.

The story of Desoto Tiger is far from finished.

Keep the records spinning.

The best is yet to come.
